Community Involvement

Citizens Bank proudly supports local organizations by providing its specialty smoked barbecue at charity events every year. This tradition for the last ten years has brought Citizens Bank officers and employees together with thousands of charity volunteers and beneficiaries to share in a delicious meal.

Citizens Bank of Abilene smoked barbecue for the shooters and volunteers of Disability Resources Inc's most recent Sporting Clays Classic. While DRI residents helped serve the food; employees and officers of Citizens, including Lawrence Bertsch, bank president, smoked the meat. Bertsch and his team arrived with the cooker and some co-workers at 5:30 a.m. to begin cooking. Bertsch and friends cooked 64 racks of ribs, 24 briskets and 50 pounds of sausage by lunchtime.
